Each category carries its own pin shape, the way the layers on your My Maps do. Clusters keep the ring, because a bubble of 40 stores has no single icon to show.

Address

Renaming a store never moves its pin — the coordinates belong to the store’s id, not its name. Changing its address does matter: the pin stays on the old street and is marked address changed until it is re-geocoded or confirmed by hand.

Scale

2,000 is the real size of your database. Clustering merges nearby pins into a numbered bubble — click one on Google Maps to zoom into it.

Adjust a pin by hand

Geocoding gets most addresses right and some slightly wrong. Drag any single pin on the map to put it where it really is — it saves to the store and is marked adjusted (the dark centre dot). A re-geocode will never move it back.

Google reports how sure it was about every address. Rather than checking 2,000 pins, you check these — they are drawn hollow on the map.
